Hey guys! I really wanted to have some outfit posts up this week but we're in winter wonderland here in Denver, it's been so cold and snowing for the last couple days and I've been hibernating inside! So I'm hoping I'll have some outfit posts up for you soon!
Anyways, I've spent the last two weeks fighting off the flu...it was annoying because I was taking care of myself really well so it never got really bad but it also seemed to drag on forever!
Regardless I am finally back 100% and wanted to share with you some of my tips for fighting the common cold/flu! Please be aware that I am of course not a doctor but these are tips that help me!
Once a year I seem to get one of those pesky cold/flu that are viral that going to a doctor never does anything for because they always say just rest and fluids...so I gave up one going to a doctor whenever I felt that coming on because I was tired of hearing the same thing.
Also, when I fight a flu I don't usually use things that are pain killers alone that just cover up the "I feel terribles" and started reaching for more homepathic remedies that would help my body battle it off!
So here are some of my tips:
1). For the everyday: I take vitamin C and echinacea capsules everyday, even when I'm not sick! I also take B12, biotin and a good multivitamin!
2). When I start feeling something coming on I reach for zinc tablets, lozenges, zicam (or the non brand name version of zicam) and emergen-c!
3). When I start feeling aches and pains, I usually quit my exercise routine right away and start letting my body rest!
4). Drinks lots of fluids! I drink tons of hot tea and ginger ale (ginger ale probably doesn't help but it's always my go-to when I'm sick)
5). Odds and ends I take when I'm sick: Boiron Oscillococcinum (buy this at Whole Foods, it's super cheap there), Honey Lemon Ricola, Ibuprofen and Umcka!
6). For a sore throat: Try sucking on raw garlic for as long as you can handle it or what really works for me is a 50/50 mix of apple cider vinegar and warm water and gargling with it!
7). Make this flu fighting tea (it tastes great too):
Make this Garlic and Onion soup:
Hope this helps you fight off any flu bugs this season!! Enjoy!
I'm so jealous! It's barely starting to get cold in California, and by cold I mean somewhere in the 60's.lol. I would love to wake up and see snow outside my window one day!
